Course Description

This course is designed for individuals who work in high-stress environments such as emergency services, healthcare, and other demanding sectors, particularly where shiftwork is a feature of the role. Students will learn about the causes and effects of workplace stress, identify personal stressors and triggers, strategies for managing short- and long-term stress, develop a personalised stress management plan based on your interests and needs. And the importance of seeking help when necessary to build resilience to manage short- and long-term stress It also covers the legal and ethical responsibilities of employers and employees in relation to workplace health and safety (WHS), and the communication and documentation requirements for reporting incidents and hazards related to workplace stress to promote a safe, healthy and supportive work environment and reduce the risk of stress-related illness and injury. Course Delivery

This course is delivered fully online.

Entry Requirements

An individual undertaking this course will need to demonstrate the following to be eligible for entry:

1. As a registered training organisation (RTO), delivering nationally recognised training, we must verify a student's identity before undertaking the assessment. To meet this requirement, you will be required to show your photo identification to the camera and state your full name, as listed on your identification document.

2. Students are required to complete a self evaluation against the following core skills as part of the enrolment process. This will allow your trainer to understand any additional support that may be required during the course delivery and assessment.

• Learning: Can reflect on how I feel, learn from my experiences, and take steps to manage challenges.
• Reading: Can read and understand workplace policies and instructions about respectful behaviour, inclusion, or diversity.
• Writing: Can write clear notes about a person's condition or situation.
• Oral communication: Can talk clearly with others to ask for support or share concerns about stress or wellbeing at work.
• Numeracy: Can can use basic numbers if needed, like telling time, recording steps, or tracking changes in someone’s condition.

• Digital Literacy: Able to use a mobile phone or basic device to read messages, follow online instructions, complete online forms or access learning resources
  
  

3. Students must have access to a device with camera and audio recording capabilities, such as a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a webcam. This device will be necessary for creating short videos as part of the assessment, in which students verbally explain the required assessment outcomes.

* This course includes material about drowning, child injury, suicide, and violence which some users may find distressing. If you feel uncomfortable at any time, you are welcome to pause the course and return to it when you feel ready. Support links are provided within the content.

Course Duration

The online learning and assessment is expected to take approximately 6 hours to complete. These timeframes are estimates. Individuals with prior experience in similar training may complete the course in less time, while those new to the subject may need more time to complete all the learning content and assessment questions.

This course is delivered fully online and will be self-paced. Students are expected to complete this course within six (6) months after enrolment.

Assessment Activities

Practical assessment: 

• Students are required to upload two (2) videos of themselves participating in the provided simulated scenarios 

Documentation:

• Complete one (1) Personalised Stress Management Plan  
• Complete one (1) Stress Management Evaluation form

Theory assessment:

• A written assessment consisting of case studies and multiple-choice questions

Please note:  You will be required to make two (2) videos of yourself, verbally explaining the required assessment outcome. If you do not wish to complete video assessment questions, please consider an alternative mode of delivery (E.g. Online with face-to-face assessment).
